At lunchtime today I took a long walk at one of my favorite nature preserves … Prairie Ridge Ecostation, which is just a few blocks from my office. The prairie trail took me through tall grasses, by a small pond, and along a sweet riverbank.
The day was beautiful. Many times I just had to stop and look up at the sky … the dry grasses hissed in the wind, and tiny flocks of birds scattered when I came near. I could hear critters hop away in the grass, but I couldn’t see what they were … maybe rabbits out for a sun bath!
It felt wonderful to get out in the brisk air and move!
I’ve never been much for joining challenges, but decided to join Mary Jaksch’s fitness challenge. I think I’m going to love it! It’s a kind-of come-as-you-are challenge. Mary is passionate about helping people be the best, the happiest they can be. She’s providing an online forum for us to check-in, support one another, and get fresh ideas. Have you ever heard of a kettlebell? Now I need to find out what kettlebells are!
Even though I only had my camera phone with me, I just had to snap a few pictures!
(PS, After you enjoy the pictures, hop over to my Creative Every Day page ~ It’s another challenge I’ve joined. I’m just getting started with it, but am loving that, too!)
It feels great! Create ~ Move ~ Be Well!
I love the photographs Jane. Just beautiful. I’m going to go check out Mary’s challenge. Thank for mentioning it here.

Thanks so much, Aileen ~ the creative challenge is proving to be fun! One thing I love about this challenge, and about Mary’s fitness challenge, is that there is no expectation from anyone other than myself. I can exercise as often as I like, with the support and encouragement of others … and I can create as often as I like, sharing things here from time to time. No need to feel badly if I miss a day or two. Wonderful community! I hope it’s a phenomenal year for both of us!
Take good care ~
