Wishcasting Wednesday: What Do You Wish To Enjoy?

Last updated on 11/30/2010

Every Wednesday, the incredibly talented Jamie Ridler, of Jamie Ridler Studios, posts a Wishcasting prompt.

I’ve made a place, a beautiful page on my blog, to cradle my wishes and dreams.

I’m guessing that some weeks I’ll answer her prompt, and some weeks I may not get to it.  On the days when I do make time to honor my wishes and dreams, they’ll be here, on the Wishcasting Wednesday page of my blog.

So here’s to my Wishcast for November 3, 2010 ~

Wishcasting Wednesday: What Do You Wish To Enjoy?

When I was a girl, raking leaves was probably my least favorite chore … at-least the actual raking of leaves.  What I loved was putting on old flannel shirts and warm socks, gloves, and a hat and trekking outside for a Saturday morning with my family.

We’d rake leaves into a big ditch in front of our house, where the huge pile of leaves would stay until the leaf-sucker came along.  Hated the raking, but loved the jumping.  Loved laying, supported in the crunchy pile, even with mysterious things poking me through my clothes.  Laying quietly, trying to be so still that the leaves didn’t make any sound … it was impossible.  With even a very gentle breath, they’d crackle just a little, muffled through my hat, through the depth of the pile.

I loved laying there, looking up at the autumn sky, learning something about just being.

I wish to enjoy autumn.  I wish to take walks in crunchy leaves. rake a pile if I must, and lie down, watching the blue sky overhead … wondering where it ends.  I wish to ride my bike with the cool air on my face, leaves falling around me and under my tires, they’ll blow around a little as I fly by.  I wish for a bonfire with people laughing, and hot chocolate under the clear night sky … and maybe later, we’ll lay on a blanket and count the stars.

I wish to enjoy autumn.

Also, I wish to tell the other Wishcasters that I visit many of your blogs, but my laptop, my only personal computer, locks up when I try to leave comments on blogspot blogs.  As you wish for yourself, so I whole-heartedly wish for you also.  I’ll keep trying.  🙂

So, What Do You Wish to Enjoy?

Leave a comment below…who knows, you may feel inspired to start your own Wishcasting page.

Thanks for stopping by today. I’m really glad you’re here.

It’s late Spring here in Australia …I hope you enjoy your Autumn. xx

      • Hi Sarah Lulu … I was able to leave a comment on your blog. I timed it … 15 minutes. Ugh. Well, one day I’ll have a bigger computer (but I do love the simplicity of my laptop) 🙂

Also, wanted to tell you that your castle is adorable! I have a castle story of my own I’ll share with you sometime.

  4. As Jane wishes for herself, I also wish for her. We are in autumn bliss here as well and I wish to embrace the golden leaves and the cold — I don’t like it but it is my affirmation today that I wish to embrace it — because it is coming.

    • I’m a springtime girl myself, but we learn to embrace the things we can’t control, don’t we ~ so, enjoy the beautiful colors, the crisp, blue sky, and the sounds and smells of autumn.
Thank you for stopping by, Katie. As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you also.
      Take good care,

  5. Firstly, love that image you used. Next, your post was so lush – I was there with you crunching in the leaves and kicking them up into the wind. I noticed that this week many more are falling and swirling into piles. It is certainly a fun time of year to be out in nature and I hope you get to make the most of it! Great post.

    • Hi Lisa,
I’m so glad you stopped by today! I do love the image also. Even though I’ve seen it a zillion times, I still stop sometimes to look at the details. I love the pale fairy on the lower right, and I’m always drawn to the girls eyelashes. It’s a lovely picture.

I’m happy that you could join me in my leaf-pile. As you can see from my mother’s comment below (the Old Gray Mare) it was a happy place, with an abundance of love and peace, that I still carry with me.

Get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. We’ll be trapped indoors before long!

      Take good care Lisa,

There was safety in your leaf pile. You could leap into it with abandon because you felt that safety, security, protection.

That leaf pile went away with a heart full of joy and voices of youthful glee and is now somewhere growing sweet flowers, trees and leaves, which once again may go into a joyous celebration by the side of the road.

All the children in the neighborhood could safely leap from the bank into the pile because there was trust, faith, love in the house.

You now have your own leaf pile and you are, admirably, jumping into it with safe abandon, feeling that security of a band of friends; people of kindred souls, hearts, who view the world as it might be for everyone.

Perhaps . . . the more you leap into the leaves the more like-minded voyagers you will gather with you. what’s a little tickle of stems and caught-up twigs that needle your revel in the leaves?

    Believe in the possibilities!

    • Well, what a beautiful comment! Thank you, Mom. I read it over and over before I could get home to answer. Thank you for the reminders of the trust, faith, and love. I am a lucky girl!

My own leaf pile does grow, slowly, now. I am patient, and understand that these things happen when they’re ready. The leaves will only fall into piles when the autumn comes. I do pray for like-minded voyagers, gathering one at a time. They are here. They make the journey rich and fun.

Thank you, Mom…whatever it is that you wish for yourself today, so I wish for you as well.
      Love you.

    • Thank you, Julie, I’m glad you could join me in the leaf pile. It’s a safe and happy place. When I was a girl I never even realized I was smack in the middle of Mother Nature’s recycling project! 🙂
Thank you for the reminders, and for stopping by today,
      Take good care,

  12. Jane, I love your story of autumns past. I too hated raking the leaves, but the big wonderful reward of jumping into the pile made it worth it. Being in Southern California I really miss Autumn. We have touches of it, but the scent isn’t there and all the colorful tress ahhhh….
