The One Thing That’s Constant … Change

A year ago today I posted an article on Finding the Courage to Change. That was the day that my hubby and I took a long ride in the country on a snowy New Year’s Day, and then went to the art store to buy our first real collection of acrylic paints. At the time I honestly had no idea what changes that lay ahead.

2010 has been a year of tremendous change, and somehow tremendous standing still. I’ve been in the center of a whirlwind of experiences, lessons, and challenges. I’ve emerged stronger, smarter, and ready for whatever is next.

Today, one year after we bought those delicious paints in the picture above, we drove home from Asheville, where we restocked our booth of acrylic abstracts at Kress Emporium.  We also introduced a set of photography greeting cards, and I proudly hung my new series of miniature paintings. One year … still finding the courage to change.

My painting experience is only a tiny facet. Much has happened … and I’ve experienced the full range of emotions from thrills to utter disappointment.

My experiences in 2010 validate my belief that change is, and will be, part of this life. Just as strongly as I crave stability and smooth sailing, I crave change.

Teeny Tiny Pieces has been a central part of my journey for 2010, and will continue to be. This year I’ve reconnected with old friends, and met amazing new friends online. I’ve fallen in love with Wishcasting Wednesday and the loving warmth I experience each week from visiting fellow Wishcasters. I’ve worked toward telling my story on Teeny Tiny Pieces … there’s much more to tell, but I suppose the story is told if and when the time is right. I initiated Recovery Seeds on December 1st, and love writing short recovery posts.

I’m also planning to complete my print book,  to participate in Leah’s Creative Everyday Challenge, even if I don’t post every day, and I just read this afternoon about Ken’s Thirty Dirty Pages Project, which sounds like fun.  Somewhere along the line I’d love to start my own Happiness Project.  I have a family, am a full time education consultant, and will be completing my Healing Touch training and apprenticeship in order to become a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner (big yay on that one!)

There just isn’t enough time, or space, or sanity for me to maintain each of these projects to the extent that I’d love to, so I’ll toss them all into the sifter and see how they fall out. Perhaps daily posts will become weekly. Perhaps a project that has been simmering on the back burner will shift to the front.

Monitor and adjust. Change is constant, and I give myself permission to do what works for me.

Thank you, always, for reading my blog.  You are each so precious to me.

I wish you a happy and healthy 2011. Keep your chin up, do something creative whenever you have a chance, and take special good care,

Love,
