Painting From Within is a workshop designed to awaken your amazing creativity and initiate a journey of authenticity, curiosity, and passion.
I encourage experienced artists as well as those who have never used a paintbrush before, to come. Light your inner spark and connect with the source of your vivid imagination. Anyone … everyone is welcome.
Embrace the mystery of painting with a vibrant, free spirit. Spend a day painting without rules, without restriction or judgment, and see what emerges on your paper, and in your life.
I bring the tools I’ve acquired along my own journey, as an artist, a mother, a teacher, a writer, and a Healing Touch Practitioner.
Together we will create a safe space for freedom of expression with paints … a space free from expectation and judgment … a space safe for you to create with energy and passion.
It’s my honor to step into this adventure with you.

Jane was born in North Carolina, and grew up in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where she raised her son, who is now 24 years old.
As a child she spent many summer hours in the woods and along the creek banks near her home … sometimes with wild playfulness, and sometimes with a gentle curiosity. ”I have such gratitude for the way I was raised. My home was structured, yet full of creativity. Both of my parents are very talented, in so many ways. They nurtured my desire to explore … science, art, writing. Since moving to Raleigh, I’ve been working on my first book, studying Healing Touch, and enjoy writing for my blog, Teeny Tiny Pieces, Along the Path to Wholeness.
“Jane takes her inspiration from nature, family, music, travel, and books. ”Often when I’m in the woods hiking, my mind is busy capturing the smells, sounds, colors, and textures of the forest. I pick up rocks, mossy sticks, and interesting leaves along the way. I can’t wait to get back home to capture it all in my art. The canvas is a wonderfully accepting vessel.” She experiences acrylic, watercolor, pastel oils and chalks, and collage.
As both a mother and an elementary school teacher, she has always enjoyed exploring creativity with children. ”I think I enjoyed it as much as, or more than the kids did. It’s fun to see what happens when an 8 year old encounters watercolor, salt, and scissors….amazing stuff!”
Her work has been exhibited at the Arts Council of Fayetteville, The Broad Street Cafe, in Durham, the 51st Annual Art on Main Festival in Hendersonville, and at the Visual Art Exchange, in Raleigh. She is an art instructor for the Raleigh-based S.T.A.R.T. Art program. She looks forward to the March 2012 featured exhibit at the VAE Exchange Gallery. Her work is available online, as well as at The Kress Emporium, Downtown Asheville.
Currently living in Raleigh, North Carolina, she is an education consultant at North Carolina State University and a Healing Touch Practitioner.
