The Beautiful Blogger Award: Paying It Forward

I received a lovely and unexpected gift this week. I was among three bloggers to receive theBeautiful Blogger Award, from Katie Tallo, of Momentum Gathering.

Katie created Momentum Gathering in the spring of 2010, and has been leading readers to live inspired, energetic, and meaningful lives from day one.  As I’ve watched her blog grow, and her momentum gather, I’ve also watched her tender heart shine even more brightly.   She freely gives her time, talent, and kindness.

When she let me know that she’d picked me to receive the Beautiful Blogger Award I was happy, and touched, and honored that a woman that I admire and look to for so much would recognize me.  Thank you, dear Katie.

Part of the award is that I now share some things about myself … specifically,
7 things my readers don’t know about me:

  • I cried at the Cluny Museum in Paris. I had no idea that people carved and painted such beautiful wooden sculptures 1,500 years ago. I was completely overwhelmed.
  • I almost always lose at board-games, but I love to play them anyway.
  • I almost always burn bread.
  • I like to lay in my hammock in the evening waiting for the first star to appear, and then count the stars until they pop out so quickly that I can no longer count them.
  • I plan to be certified as a Healing Touch Practitioner around this time next year.
  • I saw someone get hurt, 20 years ago. I didn’t stop to help them. I’ve never forgiven myself.
  • I have a box in my garage of ballet costumes that my sisters and I wore in recitals when we were little girls … tutu’s, slippers, bunny ears, and tiny penguin tails.

Next, I get to pick a few beautiful bloggers to share with you.

I pondered what makes a blogger beautiful.  Hummmm, it’s not the pictures, or the colors on the blog itself, it’s something much more.  The person, the kindred spirit, the kind heart that leaves me feeling at peace and full of hope.  I am learning that there are more beautiful bloggers in my sphere than I could possibly count. For today, I will share five with you:

  • Aileen Mahoney, creator of Kaizenvision ~ Lovely, kind, and gentle, Aileen has a gift for nudging me to the next step on my journey, and at the same time, letting me know that I’m doing just fine right where I am.  Thank you Aileen, for your kindness and for your powerful writing.
  • Joy Barefoot, creator of Life’s Crazy Dance and Hoots, Howls and Belly Growls … poetry for little people ~ Well, I prefer to just call her Mom.  She’s a beautiful person, with a beautiful, creative spirit.  She is my teacher, my mentor, and my dearest friend.  An amazing watercolor artist and writer, she has volumes of poetry from more than 40 years.   I’m proud of her for developing Life’s Crazy Dance … she is adding poems a bit at a time.  I love you, Mom.
  • Jamie Ridler, creator of JamieRidlerStudios ~ She creates, inspires, teaches … and always makes me smile, like a little fairy on my shoulder.  Sometimes when I don’t know where to touch down next, Jamie slips a stepping stone right under my foot.
  • Susan Loughrin, creator of Inner Creative Voice ~ Susan is beautiful simplicity.  Her heart is authentic and kind, and I am honored to call her my friend.
  • Diana Baur, creator of A Certain Simplicity ~ I only discovered Diana’s writing this week … it’s too lovely to keep to myself.  Diana is a writer and an artist, who runs a B&B in the beautiful Italian countryside.

I’ve so enjoyed writing this post for you, and picking beautiful bloggers to pass along.

Take a few moments and give yourself a little treat …  visit their sites and give them a kind word of encouragement.  I’m certain you’ll find some beauty along the way.

Thank you so much for stopping in today.  I’m so very glad you’re here ~

Take good care,

Thank you, Brian, for the beautiful photograph!
